Microsoft (News - Alert) is [once again] looking to buy out Yahoo, if we go by the rumors spreading across the Web. According to bloggers, there are strong reasons to believe these rumors.

So that's where the absurdly optimistic Microsoft 10,20,30,40 plans came from.

As in every situation in my life, The Simpsons comes to mind.

"I reluctantly accept your offer"

"Well, everyone always does. Buy 'em out boys!" [Gate's companions trash office]

"Oh, I didn't get rich by writing a lot of checks."

Google must be rubbing their hands with glee at such a prospect. Microsoft's apparent inabiity at operating a successful search engine coupled with the global hostility that is felt towards their brand (maybe the latter has a little bearing on the former), should see Google's bid for complete domination edge that one step closer.

It might mean that Google increase their market share to 85%, but at least Microsoft will be able to say they're up to second position. WTG Bill.
