Wow. It seems to me that it's the author of that blog post that is spreading the FUD.

I read that answer a couple of weeks ago and never once thought that John was saying guest posts were bad or would be penalized.

That's a major leap from what was said. It will be interesting to see John's clarification if it ever gets approved in the comments.
