Michael Dorausch reminds small business owners that Regardless of your industry, invest some time in doing your homework to avoid any costly mistakes when making choices regarding an individual or firm to work with in the field of search engine optimization and/or marketing.

I’m not sure why, but the title link doesn’t work... The post is at:

Are the mods able to change the Title link to http://blog.planetc1.com/2007/11/23/avoiding-potential-website-optimization-disasters/ so that the Sphinn link takes the viewer to the post directly.  Thank you.  :)

Shana, thanks for the submit.Marty, thanks for the kind words.my rant...Something I’ve learned from this community is that there’s a genuine desire to see people and businesses succeed online. Not everyone always agrees on the best ways to go about it, but the discussion is typically positive in nature and intended to move the SEO/SEM industry forward.I’ve worked countless hours homeschooling myself in the practices most of you provide on a full-time basis and I’m still only scratching the surface on the collective knowledge available here. Those of you I have gotten to know are typically working late into the night, and hitting your computers early in the morning, pushing to do the very best you can for your clients. When shot in the alarm quick fix services are passed off as SEO (whether it be from corporate YP types or individual telemarketers) small businesses lose, and derogatory terms get applied to and industry of many hard-working and well-intentioned people.I can keep tossing the faxes out and hanging up on the phone calls, but sometimes I feel I have to let off some steam....end rant

And we’re all the better for it, Mike. You’ve always got my vote. That’s the beauty of this community. The majority are willing to share their knowledge and advise and help others. Surely that’s why it’s called social media.PS. You’ve not yet forwarded me your SU.

@TheNanny:  I think you did something that I also once did. After filling in the News URL on the form, you then hit the "Start Discussion" button instead of the "Submit News Story" button. In that case the News URL is discarded.I would prefer a simpler system with just one Submit button. If the URL box is blank then it is posted as a discussion.

@q1smd:  Thanks for letting me know... I’m sure that’s what I did.  :)
