Another well-written, easy to understand post from Michael Gray where he continues his series of posts on "Siloing"...an important SEO concept.

So if you have the sidebar different on every single page of a 10,000,000 page site then the links are devalued compared to the content?
Proof?
Limit the number of links? I have no idea why that would make a difference with a hypothetical 10,000,000 page site with tons of juice to every page - they would link to what matters in the context of the article.
Then we get links to such a hypothetical siloed site... Wikipedia (nofollowed of course)
1391 Links on page.1275 Followed links.116 No followed links.249 External Links141 External Followed Links108 External Nofollowed Links
Even contradictory within the article
"For a silo or theming approach to SEO, this means limiting the links in your posts."
"The one place you want to reduce or eliminate links is on product pages."
Not going to desphinn it, there might be some honest mistakes and it is hard to judge an article like this in isolation
I read "limit the number of links" as limiting what links where. The very next sentence, same paragraph and no linebreak, reads ""You want to link only to other content that is relevant and good for the end user and to other sections or posts within the same silo."
Sphunn: together with the original and repurposed posts on Bruce Clay's, this series is one of the better hands-on silo explantions/tutorials. ..and I happen to like siloing :)
