CNBC article has several comments from fuming Yahoo Store merchants: "What a complete disaster. All of a sudden, the bedrock of our company has been replaced with quicksand." And this: "...my business and reputation suffers as a result of a hosting company who can't manage to keep servers going. We will be investigating alternative hosting products."

"my business and reputation suffers as a result of a hosting company who can't manage to keep servers going." -- no kidding, why did they pick Yahoo for hosting in the first place??

Has anyone here ever received a call from a potential client who uses Yahoo Stores and needs their site to be SEO'd - what a nightmare.  I couldn't help them in regards to on-site optimization much at all.

I've been there, yes. Blech! I am seriously unimpressed with Yahoo and believe small business owners would do well to avoid hosting there.

I wonder if the disgruntled customers will bail from Yahoo Search Marketing (PPC) as well. It could reduce competition and thereby reduce costs for those who stick with them. Just a thought.

We actually got started optimizing Yahoo! Stores back in the day for some of their largest customers at the time (Callaway Golf, American Apparel, etc); it's a nice little cottage industry.

Once you figure out how to influence the html code they spit out using their RTML templates, a Yahoo! Store can quickly and effectively rank well in a short amount of time.

PS: @Andy - I didn't know you were involved with Volusion.
