Thought this was interesting and valuable mostly because the discussions I run across are B2C focused. Not that I’m complaining but I have a client right now who is B2B and trying integrate her site into a Web 2.0 mindset is proving difficult. It’s good to know I have back up proof when I am having a hard time fitting in the bells and whistles.

Excellent article. I like the emphasis on the best format to present content. You have to take clients where they’re at now. Sometimes it’s best to start with one improvement you can document than to try too many new things that have trouble getting approved or implemented.

In my opinion, the "Web 2.0" look and feel with all sorts of bells and whistles is a tad overrated.  Sure, it works very well with B2C sites and audiences that may be a little ADD due to media overload; however, the old adage KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) holds true when targeting a B2B audience.  Moreover, even certain B2B verticals (for instance, the vertical I’m in, which is the wholesale industry) should keep things as absolutely simple and straightforward as possible.  It all comes down to knowing your audience - just because it looks pretty and has a lot of cool podcasts and videos, does not mean they’ll be in anyway engaged by it.Kari RippetoeMarketing ManagergoWholesale
