I totally agree with you on the popups I for one cant stand popups of any kind.

Thanks! I hoped it wasnt just me-- after you start seeing this kind of thing show up more and more, you kinda start to wonder. :)
I just find this type of popup annoying in that, too often, it interferes with mouse movement. Thats annoying, and not too user-friendly.
Was actually considering whether to use these on a new blog but im definitely not going to now that people here have made their thoughts clear I see TechCrunch has used it for a long time though
yep +1 for almost as annoying as nails on a chalkboard
