So what is this "To Prank" website then?
Some sort of wind-up site?
Marty, you're becoming a contrarian linkbait pro these days. Yeah, there is a big ass Sphinn me button on all our posts these days, maybe we should reconsider? I appreciate the submissions but compared to what normally gets submitted, that announcement doesn't compare. Would love to write more but I have a plane to catch. :)
@ Lee: Travel safely friend...and thanks. :). At least I'm a well-researched contrarian chronic link-baiter. The VALUE of the content is DIFFERENT than TOS violations or even violations of the Sphinn team spirit.
Over 20 folks OTHER than aimClear thought your content was cool enough to bring to the community. I can't believe I'm debating the value of TopRank's content to the Sphinn community with ...Lee Odden.
PS, I sometime linkbait by being nice...contrite, subtle, humorous, and yes...even contrary. It depends on the application and the crowd.
@g1smd: TopRank is one of the most respected SEM blogs on the Internet...and deservedly so. We learned a lot about what we know about linkbuilding-and baiting...from TopRank's writings.
I am just really confused why they wouldn't want the free promotion? Did I miss the answer? If I am going to tell you not to do something, then I will tell you why! You can sphinn my stuff anytime you want, lol.
@ Floppy. Thanks...:)
I don't get it. The Top Rank person first complained that the submitted post was "not editorial" (Whatever the heck that means) and then argued that the post was too weak. Is everyone crazy here? Contrarian? For arguing the facts? Is aimClear in a gentlemanly joust with a blog author because aimClear thinks the the content the author offers value-but the author doesn't? Holy cow batman.
Lawyers say if you have the law on their side, argue the law. If they have the facts on their side argue the facts. If they have neither the law or the facts on their side then pound the table. Contrarian linkbaiter indeed. Now there's some table pounding!
Tamar may be the "moral conscience," but I'm gonna speak my mind.
With my Sphinn user's hat on:
1.) Is it really necessary to call Lee out in a new post like this, Marty? Other than getting another front-page notch in your belt, what are you hoping to accomplish? If Lee commented in the other submission, shouldn't the discussion have stayed there? Lee is a gentleman and deserves better than this.
If memory serves, this is the second time you've taken a comment from another submission and turned it into a new post. You were asked politely not to do it again, and you agreed. Have you forgotten?
2.) Please skip the "the post went hot entirely on its own" stuff. Anyone who's been around here for more than a week knows that you could submit a photo of dog poop and it would go hot. We've all seen it happen. Please drop the "wisdom of the mob" stuff.
With my Sphinn moderator hat on:
This submission should probably be discarded, but I'll ask the mod team before doing anything.
Matt,
Go ahead and remove it then I support your decision if you think it's right. However, this is not bookmarking another post at all. Sometimes Shpinn becomes news. That's the mark of a great community. I was VERY respectful of Lee, because of his stature...and because he's a great guy.
Also, Lee called me out in the comments thread on the original post...to start the dialog. I was embarrassed actually.
Marty
Heh. No offence Marty, but Matt just said something that I was slightly too timid to bring up; your dog poop submissions probably would go hot :P
cc: of letter to Mod via contact form:
Matt,
Please remove http://sphinn.com/story/16199. I think you crossed the mod line by bringing your objection to the post public in both your personal and moderator role.
Sincerely,
Marty
I disagree that this is a case of "Sphinn becomes news." I believe this is a case of trying to create news and controversy where none exists.
It has been removed from "What's New" per your request.
...
Drat, I missed all the fun! I've got no idea what this was all about but the public spanking is probably more interesting anyway.
Geez! everyone is so touchy! reminds me of my 2 daughters when they argue, "no you did it", "no you did it", its a dam mistake, or a mix up, or whatever. Not the end of the world.
and although it makes no diffrence now! I also think Matt crossed the line. He is saying that Marty put Lee on blast. Well your putting Marty on blast. What's the difference. ?
The difference is, as a moderator, how are you going to come on here and throw your weight around, becuase you have the power to delete a posting. and on top of it, to take such a nasty tone.
"Please skip the "the post went hot entirely on its own" stuff." Seems like some sorta sour grapes to me.
Seems like alot of playa hating and its quite sad!
oh! and also , seems like someone is just mad, cuz marty can submit a picture of dig poop and it goes hot! Dont hate the player hate the game =)
Actually the post did go hot entirely on it's own...it was very careful and polite, and I did not bookmark another Sphinn post. I mentioned it along with 5 others from the last 3 months. EvilGreenMonky contacted me on behalf of Sphinn and was very professional, polite, and respectful. He backed Matt up. He made good points.
Time to take a little break from Sphinn :). I've been spending lots of time and love here and am emotionally involved. We've got plenty of work in the shop @ aimClear to keep us busy.

Well it looks like I missed the party too! Marty, whatever it was, I'm sure you had good reason to post it.
