When a Like isn't a Like. The Like number shown to users around the Internet is actually the total_count – “the total number of times the URL has been shared, liked, or commented on.” Large Like numbers throughout the Internet make it seem like the functionality is being used frequently. Yet, here we see that the specific Like feature isn’t as popular as we might have suspected.

Interesting concept. But, ever since Facebook and Microsoft have merged, like it or not, this is the future of SEO. Well, maybe not the entire future, but definitely a big part of your SERP, especially with the internet becoming localized and more and more customizable.

marketingmyinternet, first of all, Facebook and Microsoft haven't merged. And second of all, I don't really see how your comment applies to this article which was about how Facebook "like" numbers are artificially inflated by comments.

Perhaps you could tie your comment into that so we can have a better sense of where you're coming from on this.

I disagree with the article - as a plane user of Facebook I have never occurred on a situation when "a like" is not "a like" . Comments go to comments there - and likes do go to "likes"

...apropo I like something about that board here - you have a "don't like button". I think Facebook should "merge" it too
