As this article is more written with the Non-SEO crowd in mind, I havent highlighted that with Mixx you get traffic even if youre not popular, you are always on the front page of somebody btw. even with one vote.
Ill sphinn this - Mixx is great. Its nice to get the top news every day without having any of the following:1. The earth is dying because animals are passing gas! New methane-reducing feeds available!2. Ron Paul3. The American government are Nazis4. Dick Cheney5. F*&king lolcatsetc. etc.I think Mixx will go big. The best part is, it is new enough that there is still time to build a top account without too much work.
@tad - perhaps, but Mixx is noteworthy for the SEO crowd as well. And traffic is a function of the size of the community. Lets see what a Digg front pager got you 7 weeks into their site :)@caydel - you forgot Top 10 Ubuntu hacks and other stupidity
As a marketer, I cant profess to see much potential in Mixx. Traffic is still crap and lets face it, Digg will still have a greater ROI.. at least for two to three years more. Not in any chance would I consider abandoning it. And Digg aint all about the topics mentioned by Caydel. Sure they have their editorial preferences but its a huge jump to say that Apple stories dominate the frontpage everyday. They dont. Ron Paul, Cheney and LOLcats aint on the frontpage often nowadays. If you use Digg often enough, youll see that the topical cliches are really minor.Im already on Mixx and the only thing I like about it is the total ease of getting stories to the frontpage. :)
Its true that the traffic is rather comparable to that of Sphinn (Im on the front page right now). Also, like with Sphinn you get a different demograpic than at Digg. You get the early adopters. Those people who will stumble, sphinn and blog about you. At Digg you get 10 movers and shakers, 100 active users, 1000 normal users and 10 000 mindless clicking followers along with hundred of disgrundtled teenagers hating you for whahtever reason. At Mixx were at the phase of attracting the 1000 normal users, we have the movers and shakers, we have the active users. Im pretty sure well have have during the next two months. In the long run Mixx will outmatch Propeller and Reddit at least.

Haters exist everywhere. The sheer volume of Digg users and funneling of concentration on a frontpage with only 15 stories just makes it more obvious.I dont really bother about the Digg comments although some of them are funny and do give you some feedback about your website. Untill a Mixx frontpage gives me 300+ quality links and causes a domino effect which leads to SU and del.icio.us frontpages (happens all the time), Mixx doesnt attract me much as a marketer.Of course, Im talking from the publisher/webmaster perspective. End users will probably enjoy Mixx for all the excellent features they have. As for topping Reddit, well see. :)
Im on the Mixx bandwagon for early adopters too. I think it has the potential for broader reach than digg. Heck, just give Mixx.com a thumbsup in Stumbleupon, and it may become more widespread. put it in your facebook profile, anything to make it more important to the average user than digg.
Like what Dosh said -"As a marketer, I cant profess to see much potential in Mixx. Traffic is still crap and lets face it, Digg will still have a greater ROI.. at least for two to three years more. Not in any chance would I consider abandoning it. "Same here. I love Digg and manage to go on it daily. Also Mixx is only a pligg clone ( yes Digg too). Pligg is open source that you can get for free. Iti s what powers this site as well as well as my own site Earthfrisk.com - which has like a lot more features than Mixx ever had even now. Digg thoguh for what it is best at will stay the best and before I go to any other Digg clone I would rather hang out at my own Earthfrisk.com site ( not my blog) since like I said we have a lot more features. Never though even if my own site took off would I leave Digg. i just love it and all of the talk of some mass exodus is bogus.
