My own take on the big New York Times story about the guy who says bad reviews still help him rank on Google. Maybe -- but I doubt it. What I don't doubt is that Google can indeed understand if a merchant has bad reviews or not. While it currently doesn't seem to factor that into its ranking algorithms, or even show that there are bad reviews next to a merchant listing in "regular" Google, I think that will change. Lots of illustrations.
