Why now?Why not? People have had more than four years of warnings that this was coming.
g1smdWell said!Matt has been warning people not to be engaged in manupolating PageRank through paid links for years. Problem is that those link sellers who are whining today didnt take Matts warnings seriously at that time. Here is what Matt wrote already in September 2005:"But for everyone else, let me talk about why we consider it outside our guidelines to get PageRank via buying links."http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/text-links-and-pagerank/
Im a CONTRARIAN, I think now would be an AWESOME time to start getting involved in PAID LINKS. Remember, it aint about doing it GOOGLES WAY.... its about using current events to get traffic to your blog, woohoooooo!I recently wrote, "Pay Per Jokes Crime and Google Does Evil" which also points to "Get Out Your Vaseline, Googles At It Again re: Paid Links"... why ANY of this is a surprise, or NEWS, is almost laughable.
ps. Floppy, I dont mean its not sphinnworthy news... I just mean that no one should be surprised by now. The battle lines are clearly drawn. ;-)
g1msd, the difference is that up until now my not using rel affected SeoPros and only SeoPros. Now in their infanite wisdom they may penalize the members we link to! That is not only a difference its an open invitation for the unsavory element to use the same tactic to get their competitors penalized so... why submit your own site to these places submit your competitors since most of these directories wouldnt care so long as they get a $. Better still pay to have your competitor reviewd on the spammy blogs payforpost blogs!
