G'day peeps... part of me new years reso was to start adding stuff here while collecting newsletter goodies. First of many. Happy New Year. Oh description, uhm... just a geeks guide to dealing with the hyperbole that often surrounds search and social. WORD!

Yuppers... this (social signals) is almost the reasonable surfer all over again. I have been seeing posts from far and wide (since Danny's article) about how Google is using social signals for ranking pages in (news &) the regular index. This is not at all what they said. Furthermore people are also confusing a 'signal' with a 'ranking factor' waaaay too much. Lump that in with the 'blurring lines' and 'search is killing SEO' and the whole topic has just become waaaaay too much for this geek to deal with.

Why is it people prefer hyperbole over reality? Is this a case of regurgitating popular posts (like Danny's) withought context? Or is it back to the fundamental lack of understanding or IR among many SEOs?

Not sure, but it sure does get me going... grumble mumble.. Anyway, thanks for the luvin, just had to get it offa me chest...
