There is actually an interesting point mentioned in this article:
"webmasters who produce video are looking for easy ways to earn links back to their site. If one of your visitors choose to embed your content, you’d like to earn a link back to your site, too. Most video hosting sites embed code will always ensure a link back to their own sites, not nessecarily that of the contributor"....
Yes, it looks like many websites like Vimeo or Scribd want to get lots of backlinks at the expense of others. Very often we upload our videos or presentations not only to our webiste, but also to those services and then when you copy this embed code in order to paste it somewhere else, it includes backlinks not to the original source of this content (so in this example your own site), but its locations on Vimeo or Scribd. It doesn't sound right to me. Personally, I think it is not fair if you create something worth sharing and someone else gets credit for that. Maybe one day, Google will take it into consideration when changing its algorith? What do you think?
The author of the article is sharing the importance of making video as part of your SEO strategy. There is no doubt that Youtube, the largest video hosting website, is also the second largest search engine, behind Google. When creating videos, just make sure they are interesting, and short. Whether you create instructional videos or fun videos, just apply the same rule.
