As stated in the first sentence: the link won't have any search engine value. But the traffic hits alone would be worth the effort put into getting an article through the software.

Also on CNN under the Most Popular section then Top Searches, I've seen a number of sites being listed in the top searches section. Sometimes with the www and other times just the domain name. I guess people are searching in the field hoping they will appear at the top of the search results. Our developers suggested that people might have created scripts hitting urls like this one top lift the results higher...
