This is a great round-up of the pros and cons of video, audio, and photos on local sites.

"Despite the popularity of rich media elsewhere on the Internet, the use of photos and videos on local sites is in its infancy. As a group, local sites have not yet harnessed media to full effect, making it a fascinating category in which to be engaged, and one with many opportunities."

Great Article.

What I found most interesting were the references to turnhere and spotrunner. I just spent some time checking out both of those websites. I would imagine that the spothere product would not be attainable for most small local businesses (it costs about $500 to have a video made, but I'm imagining getting on TV is going to cost a great deal more than that).

I couldn't find pricing of any kind on the TurnHere site, which targets, it seems, YouTuble, Google, Yahoo, etc., rather than TV. I'd like to learn more about this company to determine how big a local business would need to be to realistically be able to make use of their services, at this point.

Thanks for the good heads up, Matt.

Businesses shouldn't worry too much about the cons, which have more to do with volume and organization. Offering visitors some choices - the best video, audio, photo examples - should help them test these waters. Visitors (and eventually customers) can explain what they found valuable. Thanks for the article.
