A pretty cool survey of 17 notable SEO folks like Aaron Wall, and their opinions on what the most important link-building factors should be. The various factors are ranked on a 5-point scale. Seems fairly useful.

Just a questionDo any of the 40 people interviewed work for the company that actually scores the links????No!What good was this then???What is amazing is what worked for SEO 5 years ago still work no matter how many SEO conferences or experts seem to be running amok.I think the next interview should be how many people love to waste time reading speculative answers without any clear answer as to what works,

Wow! If ever there was a comment deserving of the old Paul Simon line "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest."People who know how to build inbound links end up ranking very well for competitive phrases. Therefore, even though they don’t work for Google, they can be considered an authorativite source on link-building.Furthermore, even if you don’t work for Google, you can deduce what factors influence rankings.Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, this is a site for people that want to read interesting articles about SEO techniques. If you don’t feel that this article is worthwhile then don’t sphinn it and just move on.Don’t waste our time with negativity and short-sited rants.

Ooh, you have 500 keywords on Google’s front page, huh? Wow.And did you just use the number of results for a search term as proof that it’s competitive? You’re most definitely entitled to post whatever you like. And I am most definitely entitled to critique your point of view.P.S. Controltheweb - thanks for pointing out that this was spam blog post and that the original piece is over at http://wiep.net/link-value-factors/#33. Frankly, I’m pissed at myself for not taking the time to notice when I first posted this. Wish I could change the url my sphinn was pointing to.

Also discussed athttp://sphinn.com/story/17964http://sphinn.com/story/17942(Above link from controltheweb caught a braket)@Hugo "Wish I could change the url my sphinn was pointing to" People could link to reputable sources and then switch to their own sites if the the story became poplular. I assume that’s what Pligg (The CMS) is trying to avoid.Direct link to story (no /#33) http://wiep.net/link-value-factors/

Good point, jaybong! Maybe there could be some sort of manual edit, if both the poster and admin are in agreement as to the original source.
