Time zones are a big factor. Would be interesting to find what percentage of users are in which regions.

You know what feels the best when it comes to Sphinning and being Sphunn? When it happens without knowing that there IS a strategy. No manipulation for votes. No analyzing time zones or clock watching. Just pure love of what this environment offers. Then somehow ...the cycle becomes apparent and it just seems to fall in line.

Does getting to the front-page really require this much forethought? Some recent front-page articles seem to be quite "junky" to me. One about useless meta tags comes to mind. It's almost as if people are Sphinning just to be nice.
