"digg alerter has been at version 1.2 for a while now (and with good reason, the release is really great) but now adam is opening up the forum to the users to request new features they would like to see implemented in the next release of the software."

Marty, I hate to ask, but why the heck is this Sphinnworthy content?  It's a short post where Mu points to the real post presented by Adam, the creator of Digg Alerter, where he asks for requests.

It's nothing but Mu's thoughts on how he can improve it, but does it fit within Sphinn?  I don't think so.  I don't even think you think so.  I think you're pushing the limits with your avatar and don't mind that you're submitting unoriginal links.

Interesting how this has no comments besides mine (which I gave at 17 Sphinns).  Blind Sphinns much?

Squishee said it's fishy....we have seen posts get hot with more than 50% of the Sphinns cast not even having avatars, and it was the 'users' first story Sphunn......That's FISHY!!

Should we link to some of those and really have some fun??

I didn't even read the post, I just really like Marty! ;) jk

I can't stand sphinns to blog posts pointing to the actual content, independant of the sphinner, the blog, or the content.  Heck I've seen sphinns go hot that are to very reputible sources that simply point to an actuall discussion on a forum somewhere, where the real story is.

Who should be taken to task on this? The sphinner I guess, but also ones who sphunn just based on reputation alone without looking at the story.  They are only diluting the quality of the content that makes it to homepage, making it just a popularity contest, and as anyone in this industry knows popular does not mean best.  Let's not let the HOT list become the wiki of Google results.

Congrats to Tamar for making to comment, it's tough to go against the grain sometimes, but as a moderator I'm sure some of her charge is to raise the level of quality, as well as the other duties.

I don't think Marty will be offended at all, just take note of it and move on.  Hopefully it raises the discussion and the bar a bit.

@ Tamar: Ick. Yuck. Gross...I think you're wrong. Even if you were right, singling me out amongst CRAP that sometimes makes it hot here is vindictive and personal. You’re a moderator and I would expect you take a higher road, espcially with a top Sphinner.

So far as the content you attacked, to my mind any time MU posts he adds value. I love his blog. Otherwise WHY WOULD HE BOTHER POSTING? I considered Sphining the original post but wanted to be authentic and honor the chain of content that led me to the story. I’m not stupid. I wanted MU to get the link ‘case it was HIS VALUE ADD WHICH LED ME TO THE TOPIC.
MU added perspective that was valuable to ME. I guess I like no-value stuff.

So far as the folks who Sphunn the content, these people trust me because I contribute a lot of time to this community and obviously care...now you've diminished the trust from a bully pulpit.

I did not ask ONE person for a vote. In fact, I RARELY ask anyone for ANY votes EVER, especially since you had your last tantrum. Apparently I still can't get it right. Also, speaking of blind votes, your Sphinn record is 100% which many have heard you brag about…talk about unnatural. Nobody should every be 100%...now THAT’S Fishy.

You’ve hurt my feelings and told my friends and acquaintances not to trust me. That was a lynching. Ick. Yuck, gross.
