I couldn't agree more with this post we have a couple .edu clients and they are some of the best performing and most quickly improving sites.  However attempting to get any links from another edu is almost an exercise in futility.  A great example of the type of site they may link to was the library resource site.  A typical website will not be relevant enough to be on topic with the institute of higher learning.  The last line couldn't have said it any better.  Getting a high-powered link from a respectable .edu domain is great, but don’t put all your eggs into one basket.
