A useful checklist of things every small business website owner needs to check for at least once a year. A lot of things like contact forms should be checked more regularly though.

Another tip for the new year - update the dates in your footer where necessary. Most of my footers now update automatically (e.g. in PHP: echo date("Y"); ), but there’s still the odd occasion they need doing manually.

There is no need to update copyright dates, copyright begins once published.Definitely run a link checker over your site, and fix up as much as possible.  I previously used online checkers, but once I found Xenu LinkSleuth I never looked back. One more thing to do. Use Google and do these two searches:site:www.domain.com  site:domain.com -inurl:wwwMake sure that you haven’t got www and non-www competing with each other, and make sure that all of your titles and snippets are unique. Select 100 items per page to make the job much easier (add  &num=100 to the search URL).
