My plea for Sphinns resulted in a huge outpouring of support. Once the post gained some momentum (at first, people seemed to be nervous about jumping on board) the Sphinns rolled in so fast that the post not only went hot but became the hottest post of the day!
For most of the day, though, it was narrowly being beaten by Jeff Quipp's submission announcing the arrival of a little Wiep. This has led me to thinking that I should start pressuring my girlfriend so that I can have another white-hot post in nine months. Certainly not the lamest excuse I've used to get her into bed...
But finally my post crept forward, taking the lead and going on to reach a staggering 51 Sphins! This is actually more Sphinns than all my other submissions added together and is deserving of a huge amount of thanks to all of you.
So what can be learned from this experiment?

Nice post. Here's to a successful Sphinning future.
ps. Thanks for the link and kind review.
Thanks for the review. What can be learned - ask and you shall receive, Sphinn is a community, techies love experiments, reciprocation is fun, make pals with folks who Sphunn you.
Great follow-up Jonathon. I'll start counting the months now and will follow up with you in 9ish months (hehe). Seriously ... good work! I think the problem was most of us were just jealous that you're in the middle of summer, while we're contending with winter here.
I'm glad you made it to the land of Hot Topics in Sphinnville! It's exciting for sure!
Thank you for what you said in your comments about me and my site. That energized me even more. All is well in Underdog land. lol...Great things happening all around. I think you may be one of those that go very far. And I wish you alot of luck.
Glad your pleased with the success of the post. Woot...keep up the good work.
Thanks for the link love and a really nice follow-up blog. Sam
Wow. Learn something new every day... I was always under the impression that Dosh Dosh was a dude?
Ahem. **cough**. Burgo, you're correct and I'm an idiot, but hey, I'm pretty damn sure others around here have referred to Maki as a female before which is where I got the impression... Either that or Christmas drinks are getting to me now!
Johnathan:
Thanks for the great review of our blog, much respect and nice slant on the Sphinn Roll with a bit of link love for all.
Kudos and happy holidays.
@ Jonathan
This was a great follow up to your previous post. There would have been many people that would not have gone it to great depth on to why they thought the out pour of support from our peers. And thank you for the kind words in your review. I have added you to my rss for future readings.
Hey Jonathan - I concur with the rest of the good folks on Sphinn that your followup was awesome. Thanks for being creative and linking back to all those that sphunn your article include me!
Cheers!
Dev
Great post....very clever.
Thanks for the link...
Cheers!
Great post. Your campaign for Sphinns was original, and most importantly was well-written and entertaining.
You also deserve a lot of respect for following through for all the Sphinners who voted for the original post, especially because you clearly put a good chunk of time into checking out everyone's profile and website and writing up the reviews.
Keep it up!
Thanks Colin. Of course the whole experiment would have been a waste if I didn't put the effort in to following up. This tactic has meant I have built a huge list of contacts, have added many strong online marketers to MyBlogLog profile and Sphinn and has even developed some good backlinking. So, yes, it was about way more than just begging for Sphinns. I now have a seat at the table.
Jonathan, I applaud your efforts and grats on it being such a huge success for you. Just goes to show us all that we are a family and when help is asked for in most cases everyone jumps in to help out. I believe this is also a success for Sphinn itself, shows the veterans and new people that we are in fact a community that helps one another. Yes we have disagreements and arguments, but that is just like with any family.
I agree. I'd like to think that eventually my content would not have needed help to break through, but I was fascinated at how social media works and wanted a chance to break it down and play with it. The benefits have so far far outweighed any negative backlash to the idea of 'begging' for attention.
By the way, I've just Dugg the post. Certainly wouldn't do all those links any harm to get some Digg exposure. If any of you are Diggers, cast your vote and help your link along.
