many of those thoughts are going on in my head for the last few days... have to learn to blog about those in the future....
Why do people beat on them? Because they claimed a standard that is impossible to live up to - "Do no evil." It's a nice goal to have but people get crushed by them all the time. Had they said, "Doing our best to do no evil." then people could relate.
But right now, they made their fortune indexing websites without permission. The fact that they give people (some who dont even know how) the means to have spiders pass their sites is a little "after the fact." In legal terms, its called, "Unjust Enrichment" and, in layman's terms, it's the act of taking something that's not yours and profiting from it.
actually i believe the slogan was "don't be evil" not "do no evil", which is totally different.
Correct. The core value is "Don't be evil", not "do no evil." And there is a big difference.
There has been a lot of flack going G's way in recent week from certain parties; which is absolutely unjustified. Yet the people on the front line still find time to address those involved. No other company of its size would be as proactive.
That is not to say all in the garden is rosey but this year G has been provided the best webmaster tools available this year (video sitemaps, sitelinks etc) I only wish I could say the same for the other two.
People who beat on Google just have too much time on their hands, either because they got too much money coming in or because they're lazy sobs. If they were doing PPC, Arbitrage, or running a full-fledged SEO campaign, they'd be too busy to waste time bashing another company; if it was me I'd be counting my money not blogging about Google.
