Our government tends to get out of control...Who is to say they have the right to block the right to interact with another countries business...I guess they were jealous they weren't getting any money out of it
Not that it stopped me before, but hopefully this just makes transacting online with poker sites and sportsbooks easier.
To be fair, it wouldn't be the first time the US Govt. has ignored international law.
I'm sure bringing back online gambling will be on the agenda if the Democrats ever regain power and the religious right no longer has such a strong influence over US politics.

Uh oh. Sex, politics, and religion. Daddy always told me to steer clear of these conversations at a lunch table.
I dont want to even get started on how terrible this. The plan fact and reason this was passed wasnt for our well being it was the pressure that vegas casinos put on certain politcians to stop us from spending money over seas.
@seofactor - I think that's probably wise advice and I intend to take it ;)
Dude... they banned it RIGHT before I moved back to the states and then say they're going to open it back up a few months after I move back OUT of the states? Bastards :P
I love how, here in Illinois, online gambling is a tool of Satan but brick-and-mortar casinos will be the answer to all of our budget problems. Apparently, gambling is only evil if Springfield doesn't get a cut.
@IncredibleHelp:
While I have no doubt that had something to do with it, the larger problem is they can't regulate or TAX international casinos.
It's all a bunch of BS anyway. The UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) was an ADD-ON by Bill Frist to the port security bill which was a must pass bill.
The 2+2 Legislation forum has some pretty good threads about all of this.
China censors half of the Internet, nobody sues them. This is just a bunch of foreign nations looking to make another buck off of the US. Maybe we should sue Canada for interfering with US pharmaceutical companies and telling them what to charge for their drugs...
