Bill Slawski takes a look at a Google patent on how snippets are chosen: length of the snippet, keywords in snippet, etc., are all mentioned. Overall, Bill finds the patent a bit lacking in depth.

Thanks for the sphinn, Matt.

There is some value to the patent, but I'll definitely be keeping a watch out for the one that it references that hasn't been published yet.
