Ok.. so i read this article, and being a novice, need a bit more explanation. I have been doing rather well at adwords for the past 3-4 months, and then suddenly on Dec13th (nearly 4 months after i started using adwords), all my keyword CPCs went upto $2-20. I am very confused. The topics are updated very frequently, I have regular readers, and the topics are very relevant to the ads, but obviously I am doing something wrong. (I dont always have the keywords on my landing page, since the content changes often).

Any advice?? www.fashionclues.com

The title is misleading. The author just listed 101 ways to monetize a website including Adsense and Kontera which are very irrititating for most savvy web surfers.

How come so many people are so naive to digg and sphinn a simple list of 101 monetizing ways?

Perhaps because there are so many newcomers that constantly ask about how they can monetize their site. Given the spectrum of blog topics, what works for me may not work for you.

Selecting a monetization strategy that fits with your blog makes it a more natural extention of your blog, thus adding value. Some blogs work well with Kontera or Adsense; some do not. Knowing the options that are available only helps find a monetization method that works best for you and your visitors. Thus, monetizing without irritating your readers.

RE: "for most savvy web surfers"

Yes, as a whole, web surfers have become more savvy. However, I've had clients with sites with over 50,000 active members that could log on and use a complex CMS, but wouldn't know what social media was and were a very click-happy crowd. As with everything, it just depends.

Monetization is a hot topic. I think this sphinn is highly relevant and will be useful for many newcomers.

I like #41 myself - everyone is too used to AdSense ads, show them something similar (it's still a text ad and it's contextually-targeted) but different type of content so you're not driving traffic toward a competitor or site too similar too yours..

Ya gotta say that while the list is good. It definitely is NOT 101 ways to Monetize your Blog without Irritating your readers. It is however still a great list of 101 ways to make some money online. Definitely worth reading if you need a place to start, but its certainly important understand that many of these monetizing techniques are very irritating for some niches.

I'm debating if I should simply ask people how I could monetize my blog. So basically, let my readers decide. After all you'd assume that that wouldn't irritate them if they chose :)

@Gamermk: I've been wrestling with the same issue(hence today's entry), but really what I concluded is that each blog is different. Depending on the skill level, age, and interests if your readerbase, certain things that work for some blogs couldn't for others.
I don't think anyone can really tell anyone else, unless they're SUPER familiar with the audience.
