Seems these guys at Stumble are targetting Jeff because of his profession and not his submissions.
I think I am going to start an SEO hate category on my blog, I was recently banned from Propeller, for some made BS reason (using the site for commercial puposes), I have also had a bit of a run in with Wordpress recently.
I too get a lot of stick for even stumbling an SEO related story, even had personal threats. Seems very strange, guess there are just a load of crackpots around!
I know its a bummer, but it comes with the territory of trying to manipulate search engine results (which I do every day) and using social media sites as a portal for driving traffic and building links (which I live for!)... Heres a comment on a Reddit user left on my blog:Maybe you could do something with your life that has fundamental value, rather than sneaking around trying to get free publicity. SEO people, like headhunters, lawyers, and car salesmen, go through their careers with the stigma of working in a business that most people know is inherently dishonest. You are 30 years old, young enough to try something else.If you get successful and go big with social media, you are gonna get whupped in the comments. If youre president, people are going to take pot shots at you. And if you are a kick ass SEO, youre gonna eventually feel the wrath of the search engine algorithms (ask Aaron Wall). My advice: SM users are less hostile to "social media" sites and stories than "SEO" sites. Try and be nice, make sweet sites, write good content, get great links and solid friends... and let the detractors and over-reactors make fools out of themselves.
Id ignore them too Jeff. I too once had a neg review on my SU account from someone who objected to my reaction to her negative comment, who then followed it up privately in an email that betrayed her soul for the dark place that it was.SEO for some it seems, still has that snakeoil like connotation that some people will feel more than happy to jump on and say hey, look at this evil guttersnipe.Best ignored if you ask me, anyone who knows your SU profile knows the true score of the matter.
