Site owner shares his experience in a directory where he paid $50 and wants your opinion in his voting poll.

"I do have a website listed on this same directory and I have to admit that I have never been sorry that I invested the $50 even tho at the time the PageRank of the category where I submitted my site was PR3 (i think if not PR4) and now it is PR0. The fact is that Google does still give weight to this directory it has only halted the directory from passing PR juice to other sites, but it can’t stop the traffic that this directory is sending to my site and healthy the traffic is."

Google dropping the V7N Directory's visible PageRank is absolutely ridicuous, it is just as good as BOTW - unique content/descriptions, well organised, plenty of editorial entries and company/website name links. The only thing I can think of is that it has a sponsored link on the side, I can't see John dropping it though, he doesn't care about visible PageRank. I know I will continue to use it , high visible PageRank or not, $50 is a great price for a review.

They recently dropped the PageRank of STPT.com/directory/, which I can sort of understand, because I don't think they add any sites for free, but how do Google know that?

You say "The fact is that Google does still give weight to this directory" and then complain that the page you are on "is PR0."  If you are just looking for useless, hollow PR, then head over to the DigitalPoint link sales forum and you can get all the low quality crappy links you want for cheap.  If you are looking for long term marketing for your site, get many listings in top professionally run directories, such as the V7 direcctory.

@eavsey - Google has eyes and ears everywhere!  Maybe they're secretly sifting through STPT's deleted gmails. ;-)

@Aviva - just to be clear, everything after the first sentence is quoted from the author.
