All in all, the Purple Cow is a good read and if you do get it, enjoy the ideas and remember to put them into practice. A book like this waxes poetic on marketing ideologies but it’s useless if you don’t take that big step to create a Purple Cow.

Hey, I'm the worst submitter in Sphinn history.  Brian was making fun of me, so now I'm bound and determined to make the front page someday.  Even if I have to monitor all of the top blogs every minute of every day, I will.  I will make it.  I can't be that disliked!

(am I?)

I'm a much worse Sphinner than you AutomotiveSEO. That's an honor I will take to my grave.

Tanner, only I can submit 30 stories to Sphinn with none hitting the front page.  Even submitting one from doshdosh wasn't enough.

I'll probably have to wait until Google publishes its algorithm or something before a story I submit hits.

Here is a pretty good video where Seth Godin explains how he used design to be remarkable when he started selling that book.
