I agree, I can think of a few instances where such a button would have been useful. ;)
By not having that the community also sets itself up for manipulation by cooperative sphinners who sphinn each others' stuff just because... Surprisingly, I don't think it's been too big of a problem yet, but I think it has the potential to become one.
yes a unsphinn is needed
An Unsphinn already exists on stories you've Sphunn. As far as a Ho-Hum button, yeah, um, that's a tough one. Just don't vote on it? ;)
Or you can be blunt like I am and call them out in the comments. Granted, that tactic isn't recommended for everyone. :P
I don't think it's needed. Just seeing a post fly off the bottom is a pretty good indication the Sphinner needs to try harder next time.
Barry, I have a solution that's guaranteed to succeed: Do an article on your blog titled "Top 10 Stories That Should Never Have Gone Hot on Sphinn". List each one and explain why. You kill two birds with one post: Making known the "ho-hum" stories and putting your own "not ho-hum" story on the front page, instead.
Dang. I should charge for this stuff. ;-)
Great idea Barry. I thought we were getting a bury button anyways? I see the spam button has been implemented but a "laaaame" link should also be worked in there somewhere. Or in Barry's more PC language, a "ho-hum" button.
BRAVO! BRAVO! ENCORE!
I didn't see this one yeserday because I had so much to do, but funny Barry! Ho-Hum button....
Just to let you know, an Unsphinn feature is already in the development schedule and will be similar to Digg's "Bury" option.
Here here....
pligg seems to have burry link, so its just opening the template and adding the code :)
Pligg's bury button only makes the submission grey out for whoever buried it and reports the submission to the mod's nothing else...
It's likly that many HoHum posts are hot due to popularity of the poster. As for me, I'm trying hard not to submit anything Ho Hum..
Just remember, one man's hum is another's HO.
Bring on the "ho hum" button! It would be great.
