Hi, folks.
I know that buying or hunting links with PR doesnt make sense. But a fellow of mine has got into a predicament of accepting a task to get 20 PR6 links in the software industry in one month for $475 (spent on links, not for the job).
If he does it, he gets a promotion, a nice job and freedom to do whatever he wants, such as creating quality content, contributing to the Web and so on. Until then, he has 29 days to find 20 PR6 links in the software industry.
What would you do to get such links?
Please share your ideas to assist a fellow SEO.
Thank you.

How can he get PR6 links in 29 days? Ask for them. Finding great websites or blogs related to a specific field isnt hard, and if you have a quality website that would benefit their viewers/readers than all you have to do is ask for a link. Let them know your site is there and tell them how it could be beneficial to their visitors. It wont cost a penny, and if youve got some good content on your website, youll get the links. The worst that will happen is somebody saying "no."
Ooh, thats a toughie, Yuri. Wish I owned a software company. Id give the guy a link, just to help him get his promotion. Good luck! Miriam
Comment (intelligently) on 20 PR6+ dofollow blogs ;) Unfortunately it is something easier for the client to do (get involved in his topical areas community) than as a paid contract. Another alternative is to create a blog on the site and start linking out to people with related industry commentary. I know lots of SEOs earn their living in the link building trade (ok most do) but there are quite a few easy ways to go about it. Another method would be just to do some PR work emailing bloggers in the niche, and maybe offering a free copy of the software.
Tanner, I heard that link requests succeed in about 1-5%. Somehow it doesnt feel efficient, though asking some bloggers may be worth it. Thanks for the idea. The thing is, though the site does have some content, it isnt that visible. It is mostly a useful [backup] program. So it isnt that easy, though. Andy, we were going to start [intelligently] commenting, though the assignment didnt mention nofollow. Any ways to specifically find dofollow blogs, except for maybe searching for traces of the dofollow plugin? Thanks for reminding me about the idea of sharing the software. While I am not sure if the license costs will go into the aquisition costs, its a solid idea. Thanks for sharing folks, I (and my fellow SEO) truly appreciate your ideas. Ill keep you posted in a month.
I did promise to keep you posted (sorry for the delay). The job never went through, but overall it was a good thinking experiment. The most obvious way was to write awesome comments on dofollow PR6 posts to get links. But thats the inefficient PR way. The most efficient way to build links is to create awesome content and promote it, of course.
