Sphinn Stories By Domain
i wish we could view a list of sphinn stories by domain. right now we can view stories many ways including all the categories, what's hot, what's new, comments, and then also by sphinner. it would be handy to also form a list by originating domain. as far as i know the only list of stories by domain is the last 3 posts at a sphinners web site, sphunn or not.

a complementing list of domains where stories originated from would be fun too, kinda like the network list of sphinners. each record of the list would have the domain and could include the number of stories it has had submitted to Sphinn along with the hot %. additional columns to sort by could include number of stories today, stories last 7 days, this month, last month, this year, and total. another gem would be to see percentage of a domain's stories which were submitted by the domain owner...not that there's anything wrong with it,:) vs someone else. then it would be neat to drill down from there and see the number of submissions that domain has by sphinner.

i suppose this has been brought up before, sorry if it has. i know listening to requests over and over can get old. i just found myself thinking about another way to browse the stories and thought i would share.

I like the idea.
I also wouldn't mind having one that list recent posts by people in your "Friends"

the stories by friend would also be a good one shady. it would:
  • give a purpose for the sphinn friend feature
  • help you not miss seeing what your friends have submitted.
i know we can see submits by sphinners now but it is currently less than convenient.

As I happen to think that much of this social media stuff is a bit backwards I think this is an excellent idea. Kudos are given to the top submitters and hottest submitters, but continued excellence in content is all but ignored. Let's face it, it takes much more work for a writer/domain to produce the content than to submit it.

Make this also a list by "Author Name". Most blogs make use of this RSS attribute if they have multiple contributing authors. I would like to see for example Bill Slawski's post he made at SEOByTheSea.com and also the ones he made at SearchEngineLand.com.

@jimbeetle:  you said exactly what I have been trying to trying to fathom for a while:  currently the reward is given to the messenger, not the original author.

Those seeking to reward authors will have an opportunity to do so soon, though it won't be a Sphinn feature.

@g1smd
"trying to fathom"

Yeah, I'm having a big problem trying to understand this social stuff. More credit goes to those whose feed readers update every 30 seconds and shotgun submit everything they see, than the folks who spend a lot of time and effort writing an excellent, informative and useful article.

@danny
As a writer, this is something I think you sould really be sensitive to. Reward the folks that do the hard work, not the ones that simply point to it.

Just color me muddled.

I agree that the authors of the articles need more credit - but even if nothing changes, they're still getting quite a good deal.  By being promoted on Sphinn, they gain traffic and exposure that they otherwise may never have received.  Not to mention how targeted the Sphinn community is if the author is blogging about the search industry (which they probably would be if they gained a Sphinn in the first place).

When you look at it that way, does it really matter if someone else gets the credit for promoting the article since the author still gets all the benefit from the exposure without having to do anything?

The point is, is that there is no easy way on this site to find more good stuff  (stuff that has been listed here) written by the same person.

Of course, you can search their site directly, but you get no clue as to which posts posted over there, most interested the people over here.
