It’s not very Web 2.0 of us but today SocialBlogroll is out of beta. Thanks to everyone who has helped us test the system.

We’re now polling over 100 blogrolls belonging to everyone from Matt Cutts, SugarRae to Mikkel deMib Svendsen to find out which blogs they rate within the internet marketing blogosphere. You can now view the top 100+ list on the site.

Of course the main function of SocialBlogroll is to be an easy web based aggregator. You can use the AJAX search to get an overview of the internet marketing blogosphere or bookmark specific tagged pages, such as PPC, link building or domaining. Claim your blog to add your own tags.

Sorry guys, got some issues with the server. I don't think it's connected to the SphinnEffect ;)

It looked really great, katfrench.  I think it will be enormously popular.  It's a great concept.

Awesome Nick ... so thats why I haven't heard from you since Vegas. Seriously ... outstanding idea, and implementation. Guess we gotta get into the business of blogroll marketing now eh?

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it was a fun project to do. Terrible timing on that server downtime though, sorry, something to do with duplicate labels for the root drive.

@Jeff It would be really fun to extend this further, as an aggregator for the blogosphere in general rather than focused on internet marketing. AFAIK this is the first time OPML has been used in this way. Maybe JasonC wants to invest in a new idea? ;)

Thanks Sebastian :) Ah gaming it - you'll want to read the FAQs

http://socialblogroll.com/br/faqs

How Does the Ranking Work?

We have a highly secret and complex algorithm for ranking blogs within our system. It makes Google look easy. However we can give you some hints.

You will score points each time we find your site recommended by gatekeepers. You can also score extra points for regularly updating your content. Blogs that do not update within two weeks will loose points.

Also remember that if you loose the support of the gatekeepers and they start removing you from their blogroll, your ranking will decrease. Ultimately, if no gatekeeper is linking to you, your site will disappear from our system. The gatekeepers hold all the power in socialblogroll. Get your social whore hat on and make some friends or start producing consistently great content that people want to link to.
