they're quickly becoming irrelevant, I really expected more out of them, they're search results stink and their account teams are weak
MSN is the new Kanoodle and Yahoo! is the new MSN, hate to say it but Google won and it's game over
Well Maybe MSN should try and #1 offer a better compensation package to their Search Marketing Managers and Strategist for a start. I went thru 4 phone interviews with them, and was flown up to Seattle right before Adcenter opened. In fact, I was offered the job.. 1 week after, I get a call from Kenexa, who was doing the recruiting that I had been disqualified becuase I had a "Criminal Record", mind you it was a Trespassing Charge", for being in a closed school yard with my friends drinking beer at 19 y/o/ Mind you I was 33 y/o when I flew up to Redmond. So Honestly, in my opinion KARMA for they ass! And now when I have to deal with my reps at Adcenter I laugh because seems that after eliminating everyone else, they were left with some dense, uneducated, unskilled reps, how don't know squat about search marketing, and are basically talking heads reading a script. yes SAD! To have one of the largest companies in the world, claiming to want to take over the industry providing half hazard service and results.
I swallowed a penny once..
I see some positive ROI for a couple of clients on adCenter but it's largely ineffective. I'll usually recommend some budget to be placed on adCenter just for exposure...
I just don`t get it . What is up with Yahoo and Microsoft that makes them look like they are still living in 2001 ?
They just seem to me that all they do is go backwards, making awkward moves . They just don't get it . No innovative thinking whatsoever with these two companies .
hmm.. I like MSN. At a previous company they had excellent returns, but never had enough traffic. Hopefully they can iron out any issues and keep on trucking. I think advertisers would like to work with them, but they need to be on top of the responses to make it worth anyone's time.
I applied for an MSN account over a day ago...my add is still saying "submitted". Wow, I wonder if I should just drive over to Redmond, it's only 15 minutes from my office. Maybe I can get a meeting with Bill and he could approve my harmless ad...
My favorite was when they kept dropping my Pharmacy Staffing ads, I would call and clarify I was not selling pharmies (as if the ads, landing page and keywords all using the word "job" in them wasn't enough) and everything would be peachy and online. For a day, then the ads would get dropped and I'd have to call. Wash rinse repeat... and then I just closed the account. The time spent doing that made the output not worth it.
It really is an unfortunate thing for MSN. I have been an advertiser on MSN AdCenter for a year now, however, I focus my time and energy on Google and Yahoo because MSN has an unstable platform that I don't want to make changes to for fear of bringing attention to my account and having to resubmit to get my ads showing again. I have even experienced three periods of more than a week when my ads were not present.
My AdCenter ads and keywords perform better than Google and Yahoo, but the lack of traffic and inconsistencies with their platform really turn me off.
I know what TheRealTerry is talking about because I have had many ads on travel to Las Vegas get repeatedly flagged because keywords and landing page content is related to gambling.
It is a real shame.
