Mike Grehan questions why, when Search Engines have advanced so much in recent years has the field of SEO remained fairly static. It's a call to action for SEO only firms to realize that they need to do more than just SEO if they want to have long term client engagements.

Heh, I'm already on that :D. Conversion, usability, grammar, branding and more baby :). Luckily I have a good network of expert friends to help out there.

*** The Web is rapidly changing. It's becoming much more of a medium for real-time communication. ***

Blogs are little different from forums in many ways (and they have been around for a long time), However, on a blog, only a limited few people can start a topic off. I'm not so sure that it is changing. I think its more that we are seeing wider participation in these things. Maybe that's just semantics.

Twitter and such are something else, though, again, USENET, IRC, ICQ, and such, have been around almost forever. It's just another medium, and one that may become more important in time. it's difficult to see where some of this stuff is going, but one important point is that the
popularity can rapidly wear off once people feel they are constantly being marketed to.

The good news for those of us who keep up with the industry is that we will continue to get results. Yes, the guys stuck in Web 1.0 will give the industry a blemish, but results always triumph because in the end that is all that your client wants.
