Two weeks ago I posted about the ins and outs for forum marketing. When joining a community, especially if you plan to market to them, it is important to understand the dynamics behind a lot of the interactions. Here is what I’ve noticed as the different types of prominent forum members.

Danielle really got it down to a T. I couldn’t say it any better myself. The real question now is...what category do you fall into?

Good post. I appreciate that this is probably a bit like saying my favourite kind of cars are shiny red ones, but I particularly like the high quality graphics, which add some nice visual interest to the article.

It’s a very interesting and informative article - but really, statements which do not address a problem or suggest a solution lack the same value as those which do.In this example, I’d love to have seen Danielle address how she thinks these can be particularly utilised, as at present, the item describes that mechanics are at work, rather than constructively observing on how these may be used.Maybe I’ll do that, and then invite different criticisms. :)

I realize that this info may seem elementary to some and I do plan on going a little more in depth with how to effectively utilise this knowledge. Unfortunately all too often I see people in forums jump in without having taken any time to observe the "lay of the land" and it becomes so obvious that there is an ulterior motive that it’s almost painful to watch. I guess I am posting baby steps. It seems the forum information I’ve been posting lately has been well received and I will be going further with it.Thanks for the comments and Sphinns!

Hey, sorry if I sounded overly-critical - I guess it was probably unfair to sound like I was singling your post out, when really I was making a generic point. I kept looking for a continuation link for the next article in the series, as that’s what it looks like - so if you do plan to cover the topic further, that would certainly be interesting.

@iBrian - Not offended in the least!! Sorry if it came off that way! It actually started out with how to utilise this kind of knowledge but then in writing I realized that maybe not everyone knew the different types I would be referring to. In the next post I will definitely go there. And I really do appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Good article. I’ve been a member of forums for some time and met different people with different views.
