If Gray hat is the art of putting legitimate content on a web page then you are quite right.
A good designer couldve incorporated the same content in a way that wouldnt look so "unnatural" while still being below the fold. This isnt the first time Ive seen this sort of thing from an otherwise legitimate brand.
Looks just fine to me. Nothing to look at folks, move on.

Thats aint gray hat, but they could have integrate it in the design in a way that look natural for the end users.
Theyve had this going for ages, but Ill agree w/ most commenters here that 1) its ok and 2) it definitely could have been integrated better. Also notice it provides a gateway to their geographic/race/religion/etc SEO pages (which is pretty much standard for online dating sites).
No one looks below the fold on dating sites :)
