SEO is about bringing traffic from the SERPs to the website. But with our reputations becoming attached to the websites we perform SEO for, does our responsibility go beyond that? Should a good SEO also look at how the site converts that traffic into sales in order to ensure success and therefore return work? Does a poor site or poor service on a site we have driven traffic to affect our reputations as well?

I agree. We often work hard with our clients to ensure that they are converting the traffic we are sending them. These days, if a clients site looks like it won’t convert traffic, and we cannot replace their site we’ll try not to take their business. Why? Because they won’t realize the benefits of our services and will not be long term customers. We try and invest our talents into clients we know will make the most of them.

But isn’t customer service and everything else all connected to customer conversion? We might not need to take responsibility for such things, but by providing advice on how a site can increase custeorm conversion by providing strong service and allowing custoemr feedback to be displayed  (for example) could be very beneficial across the other marketing strategies you already take responsibility for.
