There's a whole society here, and on the Web, with different informational needs and reasons to visit sites like Sphinn.

Blog posts that can take basic concepts involving internet marketing and express them with great clarity can have a significant impact in opening eyes to a mainstream audience, and those who don't have years of experience involving search and internet marketing.

I do think that we should question what purposes and uses a desphinn button might have, but I'm all in favor of posts and sites that explore and inform on a level that people new to SEO and SEM can benefit from, and that move away from the scams (submit to 1000s of search engines) and voodoo marketing that are all too common.

I thought it was a fine post. Simple, explained stuff well for new people. If you're in the space, it told you nothing new. So I can understand some people thinking "yawn." But in general, I think revisiting old ideas or content -- or commonly known stuff -- in a new or different way is helpful.

I just want to write a series of posts which show what we know and what we think is going on. And I'm trying to do it with the bare amount of words needed to explain each idea as clear as possible.

Way I look at it, I'm happy the Sphinn on the post was attacked. Could've been worse; could've been that something with what I wrote was wrong :)
