I spent 5-6 sec. to read this article. I have enough time in the day to read most of my friends sphinned articles. Do you believe?
Looked at the post. Sphunn it. Just watch Sphinn Live for a while, just sphinning w/o looking isn't uncommon, but then again so what. If you sphinn cuz you like avatars, the post, the time of day, or want to move up in the total sphinns column its all worth a vote.
Sphinn Live's not always a great way of judging what people are up to. I quite often open a load of stories at once, read them all and then Sphinn the ones I want to all at once. Plus there are the articles I've already read in my reader etc...
That said, I'm sure there are plenty of 'blind sphinners' knocking about.
My approach to Sphinning articles is if I don't feel like I have the time to comment on it then I don't have the time to Sphinn it either. I don't always stick to this rule and I certainly won't comment on everything I Sphinn, but generally that's my personal guidelines for Sphinning. The result is my Sphinns are pretty low compared to other users less active then myself here, but I guess I'm okay with that.
Similar discussion I posted on earlier

I never Sphinn unless I've read the post and given it a bit of time, even for buds. So my comments are thin, but that's because I'm choosy what I read. If nothing else I feel good that my Sphinns really MEAN something.
I have to agree with you Scott, how can you give something your vote without knowing exactly how it concludes?
Surely, with this in mind, you could have a good title and intro to a blog post and then never really finish it, but you will still get some sphinns.
I guess it all probably comes does to your reputation, and whether you would only ever recommend 'quality' posts... but then again.....
aha! someone prbl does't believe - voted me down ;) He he he :)))
