As the title might suggest, an article about the possibilities for the future of mobile advertising, including mobile web advertising, sms advertising, mobile search advertising and Google's apparent and suprising (to me) suggestion for monetizing the mobile web.

Interesting article- it reminds me a few years ago when the prediction was that paying for minutes and such on mobile would go away and you would pay for services supported by ads or other variations. The problem is these services and ads have a long way to go before they can replace the revenue generated by minute plans and prepaid plans. The transition will be very painful and you could lose a major player along the way. I think its going to take someone like a google to introduce this model into the marketplace and over time get the other providers to adapt with similar offerings

Nice comments by Danny.

At times the idea of some of the advertising methods mentioned seem so far away and yet I feel the urge to figure a way to get an edge on this platform. My small business is loaded with users of smart phones, pdas, and such. Has to be ways to market, stay in contact, etc. that don't turn off the end user.

Great article.

mobile marketing and other forms of new media are indeed going places. Those that jump on the technologies now and encourage their development will be the ones to monetize their success.

If the sales explosion of the .mobi domains are any indication, the mobile advertising and "anything" mobile is going to explode in the future.
