Pretty cool that Bush still ranks where he should in other engines. And pretty cool that Google made that fix last and no one has found a way around it... I guess... :)

Google Bomb is not fixed. Google has just manually altered their algo to handle this instance as well as the infamous Stephen Colbert's "Greatest living American". These Google Bombs are just hand fixes. If you really think about it everyone is Google Bombing (i.e. using selective anchor text to rank for a particular key phrase).

They definitely still work. This example was ruined when some fool edited the target page to include the keyword phrase, but it was working just fine up to that point.

No matter what Google fixes G W Bush and his father are both miserable failures!

Huge mistake re-electing the illiterate Texas oil baron who bankrupted 3 companies and now America

Amen. Google claims to want to dish out the best, most accurate search results and then "fixes" one that is 100% accurate.

Sheesh!

I tend to be in the camp that believes that the Google bomb updates are isolated in nature, possibly algorithmic - due to a keyword list that they add to some running process, but overall probably not an across the board fix.

Look at some of the sites that show up for Stoney deGeyter's "Reciprocallinksarenotdead" phrase and you'll see what I mean. There are sites that do not use the phrase but still show up such as www.renodiners.com/ , www.upnorthsports.com/, etc.

Back in September of last year I noted that Google outranks Bush for "miserable failure" (based on the number of "word occurences" in the snippets):
