I have been getting a lot of "parse error" messages near the top of the page for several days -- which obviously stops the rest of the page displaying most of the time.

Danny, FYI, I’ve tried adding myself to one of the events in the calendar and I got the following error: "Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: queryobj in /var/www/html/sp/sphinn.com/calendar/includes/add_self_to_event.php on line 8" Now sure if others are getting this too...

I just figured it was attributable to the almost exponential growth in new posts over the last couple of days...

I noticed this earlier, and deactivated the Sphinn plugin on my sites, as it was making them crawl.

ditto, on the sphinn button on external sites, seems to take forever to load the page. I haven’t given up quite yet, but may have to think about it unless it improves.

So far, the issue seemed related to another site on the same server. Think things have improved much since I first posted. FYI, there will be new Pligg software (that we use to power Sphinn) out later this month that’s supposed to make things much faster. We’ll upgrade when it comes out.

If you have a sphinn button on an external site, consider placing it lower on the page so you are not waiting for your main content to load ... just the button and your footer.

For those who saw problems with the vote button on your sites - are you still seeing those? If this particular issue comes up again, can you shoot a message directly to admin at sphinn.com? Thanks much!

Isn’t this cheating the system, I thought you needed 9 sphinns to make the homepage! :)

The errors aren’t that bad. It’s not like it’s unusable. Just a bit quirky at times.

Via Help, the "Basic Common Sense Law" covers this: http://sphinn.com/story/234 "I expect that what makes it Hot will be largely off how people are sphinning. But we reserve the right to push content right to the Hot page (like with this post) if we think the community will benefit." In this case, with the site being sluggish, it made sense to get that update out to the home page ASAP. Aside from this, I think the last time I pushed a story out before it would have gotten there off votes alone was maybe three weeks ago, when things were slower and there were one or two articles just short a vote. Since thing, things are progressing naturally very well. Now say Larry or Sergey resign. If I saw something like that, I might make an editorial decision there’s no need to wait for the votes!

It has been a little slow, but that just means people are using it.

Hi Danny and Jill and many others I have met in the past. I have met both of you before but you won’t remember me yet... Great site and I tested it out with much ease. I used to work for icrossing and Joe G and I served a two year non compete from them.. I am now completely free and started my own site 8 months ago... I look foward to seeing you both again at the shows. Danny you have been a leader and I hope to to have a sliver of your success. See you around.. tim Theseoagency
