When they realize how stupid that is itll be removed from their user agreement. They want deep linking as we all know.
Hmmm I wonder how long they keep their articles "live" at the site. I know that I get frustrated when I read an old blog post which cites a Yahoo news story, for example, because often the content has expired and you get an error page when you click through to Yahoo. If I am not going to keep an article on the same page forever I may want to dissuade someone from linking deeply? Not saying this is why but that would be a reason to consider this rule, non?
good example of why lawyers and SEO dont mix.
hmmmm. i would think thats more geared to "scraping" rather than traditional "linking" in to the site. I could be wrong. if so...too bad for them, but its interesting to note.
