Doubt it’ll last for long - I know for a fact many of the big high street lenders have already embarked on big link buying campaigns in the UK. Unfortunately for them, they are doing it through big name SEO companies whose approach to link building is to simply email blast any webmasters with a finance site. Not a very intelligent approach, but at least it shows will on the side of the brand name banks/building societies to engage SEO.

The british leader in the serps for "credit cards" has a massive Digital Point Co-Op network campaign running with 1.6 million backlinks logged, they won’t be pushed from that spot, without a kick in the arse from Google. And i also know for a fact a couple of the other non-high street lenders listed there are doing some pretty major campaigns, we did some link auditing a while back for a certain number of them. And it really is quite shocking.....
