What a great tool! I know it’s possible to drive great traffic from StumbleUpon but I never dreamed of getting massive traffic to my blog. Many people understimate the power of StumbleUpon and put Digg in the first place when they talk about social bookmarking websites but Digg has never sent me that much traffic.

That’s a compelling example. I’d be interested in hearing if the traffic levels continue.

While SU can match Digg in terms of traffic it can’t do the same for links... and that’s why most people put Digg first.

I’m wondering the same thing Amy. I’ll be posting my stats at the end of the month.

"Most important thing is that you stumble as many articles as possible every day so you get as much traffic." I disagree about this part. Usually StumbleUpon follows a law of diminishing returns, the more you stumble the same domain, the less traffic you get. Like Cameron, I agree about StumbleUpon not getting you links. Unless you have a super-stumble (over 10K uniques a day), links do not come easy via StumbleUpon.

I have yet to get a single hit from StumbleUpon. How depressing.

Stumbleupon is a nice community and it can be useful for SEO purposes, but what you are suggesting is an abuse. I recommend not doing it often because it is a one-day flower. You actually get 500 hits from stumbleupon itself, but anyone likes your page, then the following day, that will fall down to 12.

I get tons of traffic from StumbleUpon. Of course if your content is crap, people won’t return. But #’s as described in the article indicate his pages were likely given a "Thumbs Up" by SU visitors, otherwise they wouldn’t be so high. I’d assume the traffic will decline a little, but in the meantime he’s gained new subscribers. Stumbling your own posts is in no way abuse. I do recommend Stumbling content outside of your own blog/site that is within you niche. This will, as the author mentioned, make your an "authority" within SU in your niche. You can gain friends/followers that way, and your Stumbles will receive more traffic.

I agree that StumbleUpon sends huge traffic your way but you need to be an active, responsible member to pull traffic. SU members certainly don’t like someone adding crap contents. Add your personal blog content *only if it’s gonna be useful for others*. As Michelle has written in her comment, you should try to submit new contents to SU that are related to your niche. It’ll help you gain new friends/fans interested in your niche. Also try to avoid making friends who have nothing to do with your niche because you can have max 200 friends.
