Barry Schwartz will be hosting the first ever SphinnCon in Israel on Tuesday, which we know will be a tremendous success. The Sphinn team is keen to hold more of these local events this year, one of which being discussed is a SphinnCon North Carolina...

With SphinnCon Israel selling all 150+ seats in no time, its clear that there’s a big demand for these small Internet Marketing events. The Sphinn team is now planning venues for more of these local events in America, Canada and Europe. Our aim is to bring online marketing discussion and insight to places with a strong industry presence, that do not currently benefit from having a larger event such as Search Marketing Expo nearby. The 1 day conference will focus on local as well as global internet marketing issues, with a networking party open to all attendees at the end of the event.Despite being an Essex-boy from England, I’m currently in the process of organising a SphinnCon in Greensboro, North Carolina. Some very good SEO friends of mine live nearby and I’m aware of other well known internet marketers living in the vicinity. Sphinn member and SEO old-timer, Jay Young, will be helping me with proceedings.I’d love to know who would be interested in this planned event and what topics you would like to hear about. We’re also considering breaking from the norm by using a Roundtable format and limiting each presentation to 5/10 minutes.

make that about 170 seats...don’t forget to include alcohol available throughout the event... boosts the secret sharing...:)))

Very cool idea, Rob (and Barry, of course).  I think there’s a lot of potential for future SphinnCon conferences.

All attendees will get to meet my giant bloodhound Rufus, if that helps...

Roundtable format - fantastic!Greensboro, NC - even better; in Raliegh myself and I know a solid amount of other SEM/SEO/SMM’s in the area!between Charlotte, and the RTP area you would fill this up quick IMO.What exactly would the cost be?

I think that the real draw is that there would be an SEO Chick there. Am I wrong?Seriously, we do need details Robert. There are a lot of SEOs in between Charlotte and Raleigh!

I’d drive from Lexington (KY) - only 6h - depends on time of year though.I’d spend time in Asheville on the way home.

So, the primary goal of this thread is to guage interest so that we can plan more accurately. With Charlotte and RTP pretty much equidistant from Greensboro and given our more than respectable number of SEO’s here in Greensboro, I think we could muster as many as 150 or so.  It is also very possible that my powers of estimation are horribly deficient and the number is closer to 50. It looks like we have about 5 semi-solid affirmitives in this thread already, anybody care to venture a guess as to the likelyhood of 145 more folks turning up?  I really need to know how many kegs to buy?

I’m just chatting to Danny about dates at the moment, although my initial thoughts are April/May. Once things have been fleshed out a bit more, we’ll stick up a page to find out how many people are deffinitely interested and then pick a venue from there. The initial response sounds positive though :)

Cool, I’m definitely there - Raleigh or Greensboro. I’m Sure Notsleepy and others would join. I know of at least 10-12 I could invite easily - and I’m sure they would come.

Asheville, NC is beautiful that time of year and it’s more centrally located between Atlanta, Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte and Greenville.  I’d say, 150+ folks shouldn’t be a problem if you have it in Asheville, NC.  Folks driving from Raleigh or Greenboro could check out the new DC being built Lenoir on their way down.If you want to go "high style" there is always http://www.groveparkinn.com : )Just my two cents but, count me in either way!

What’s all this shouting? We’ll have no trouble here. This is a local conference for local people. Atlanta, Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville?  Are those places local?Don’t get it? Please see https://www.thisisalocalshop.com/

We’ve got a cluster of clients in Raleigh/Durham, so I’d love to synch up a visit to them with a SphinnConn. My vote’s for Asheville, too - it’s totally groovy.

We have 40 members in the "official Charlotte SEM Meetup" over at Meetup dot com.   I’ll be sure to mention it at the meeting this week.  I’m sure many would attend.Greensboro is close enough to Charlotte.  I know I’d make the trip.  Thank for thinking of us North Carolinians!
