Not much is known about manual reviews(concretely). Manual reviews are Google's acknowledgment that anything algorithmic will have flaws. Google is known to employ thousands of people across the globe for it. This is an examination of a detected [probably] manual review.

You've done some excellent posts the last few months, but this one is taking it to a whole new level.  Thanks SSS!

The post is a good example of why white hats need to know the darker side.  Even if we're not link spamming or cloaking, it's good to know what Google's up to when they're looking at our site.  Forewarned is forearmed.

I'm working on a way to get the non-google IP manual checks handled as well. But unfortunately, those are pretty hard to confirm. We shall see :-)

I've had some weird SERP problems on a white hat site, and have been puzzling about what the heck BigG is doing for awhile now.  Stuff like this is great to see a tiny bit more of what G does as a whole.
