Good article about bad public relations move.
I wish I could meet the person who sold this to Jawbone and told them it would be good PR and exposure - This guy has got to be the best BSer alive...
Interesting drama in the comments. Its a good example of a company hurting its credibility by refusing to completely come clean instead of owning up to having made a dumb mistake.
OK Bruce, its not a pitch. Your online marketing company decided to make a concerted effort to garner publicity for a video you disapprove of and have no financial interest in simply because your staff have nothing better to do.In fact, they are so stuck for things to do that theyll be checking all the blogs they didnt pitch said story to see if anyone has written about it. Just for fun, naturally.
Maybe Digital Axle have started their own 20% scheme? That would explain it for me...
"Launching" a viral video....LOL
Thats got to be the oddest non-pitch Ive ever seen. And I still dont get the whole "starting a conversation" defense. If her job was to drive traffic to the agencys site, why not invite Lee to post his reaction on their blog (one where presumably they already state that they think the video is dreck)? Instead she asks him to post his reaction on his own blog. If it quacks like a pitch...
Agreed. A pitch to start a conversation. A lesson learned hopefully.
I searched and found it. I could not finish watching the video. I will certainly steer away from the product.
