I knew there was a reason I was blogging... but I would read these "what are your goals for your blog posts" and I never could articulate exactly the reason.  It’s positioning!

I’m do agree with this post, but I’d phrase it somewhat differently. Direct customer contact and feedback seems to be the benefit they are emphasising, which they refer to as positioning. However, market position is determined by many factors. A blog can contribute to market position, but won’t create a position necessarily for a business on its own. The blog would have to be supported by other customer focused initiatives such as outstanding customer service, customer feedback surveys and most importantly - real action based on customer feedback. Then they might be able to create a ’customer centric’ market position.Personally, I’d say that direct communications with customers is the most important factor for small business, which allows the blogger to gain insight on customer thoughts, motivations, satisfaction levels and future needs. This is particularly important for small businesses that don’t have the budget to afford market research.
